THE family of missing mum-of-two Marie Scott have made a heartfelt plea for the public’s help to find her.

Her sons, Stuart and James, spoke of their ‘incredible mum’ and Marie’s husband of 40 years, Jim, said ‘days are just so long without her.’

They joined forces with police to issue a new appeal - and released a collection of family album photographs. Marie, from Hale, Trafford, has not been seen since December 18.

The last sighting of her is outside Dukes 92 on Castle Street in Castlefield, Manchester, just after 2.10pm on the day she went missing.

Marie, who turned 58 on Boxing Day and runs her own ironing business, had been struggling to come to terms with the recent death of her mother Irene, the family said.

Standing with his sons to issue the appeal husband Jim said: “The last couple of weeks have been really devastating for me and hard to come to terms with.

“The days are just so long without her. It’s taken its toll on myself and the whole family and it’s been a tough time.

“If Marie has confided with anyone outside the family, then please come forward and let the police know, or a charity know. We just need any help now to move this thing forward and get her back safe and well.”

On the day she went missing, she had been to see a psychiatrist for help and support in the morning.

Police know Marie boarded a 12.30pm tram from Altricham Metrolink station on December 18 after leaving her home in Sandileigh Avenue, Hale. She got off at Deansgate at 12.54pm. From there she made her way along Deansgate where she spoke to a couple outside the Blacks store at about 1.07pm.

Police have now revealed that she was seen ‘wandering around’ near Deansgate Locks after the sighting near Dukes 92.

Marie’s son Stuart, 37, said: “We love her dearly. She is adored by everyone. She has not been herself for a number of weeks unfortunately.

“The support has been incredible. Everyone has been so supportive and really caring. We just need people with any information to come forward and help us.”

Marie’s son James, 20, added: “Mum if you are out there, we all love you so much. We just want you back.

Det Insp Simon Akker reiterated the family’s appeal and urged Manchester’s homeless community, or anyone who may have befriended Marie, to come forward.

He revealed specialist search teams and CCTV experts are being used, alongside a team of detectives.

Det Insp Akker said: “I would appeal to Marie to contact us and let us know she is okay. There is help out there for her should see need it.

“We need to know that she is safe.”
