- By SHELDAN KEAY

STOCKPORT COUNTY and SALFORD CITY will battle it out for bragging rights when the two local rivals meet at Edgeley Park today.

The Hatters have performed well in recent weeks, moving up to eighth in National League North as they try to stay in contention for a play-off place.

Top-of-the-table Salford have had mixed form of late, with second-placed Harrogate breathing down their necks after cutting the Ammies’ lead at the top to four points.

Stockport head into the match on the back of a 3-1 win at Alfreton Town on New Year’s Day, while Salford and FC UNITED played out a 2-2 draw.

The Rebels are in action tomorrow when they welcome Southport to Broadhurst Park.

Since Tom Greaves was placed in charge, FC United have impressed and now sit 13th. Southport are in 17th – but would go level on points with FC United if they win.

CURZON ASHTON are on their travels as they make the trip to New Bucks Head for an away game against AFC Telford United.

Curzon are in 12th place following a 1-1 draw at home to Bradford Park Avenue in their last game, while Telford are in 20th position.

In the National League, MACCLESFIELD TOWN could extend their lead at the top when they welcome Solihull Moors to the Moss Rose.

The Silkmen sit six points clear at the top of the table.
