George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Manchester Academy July 7 George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will head to Manchester this July, bringing a surge of 70’s nostalgia to the Academy. Parliament and Funkadelic have recorded a string of songs under the stewardshi­p of George Clinton, such as Flashlight, One Nation Under a Groove, and Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On. George Clinton continues his mark on contempora­ry music today, most recently winning his first-ever Grammy Award in 2016 for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly. The Membranes & Friends II, Manchester 02 Ritz May 5 After seeing huge success at last year’s Manchester Membranes & Friends event, the band decided to do it all over again in 2018. Fronted by undergroun­d legend John Robb, Membranes last album, Dark Matter, was a critical favourite across Europe, big on BBC 6 Music and was the bands first top 75 album. Tickets for their gig at O2 Ritz go on sale today (Friday) at 9am.
