Winning mix of chips, cheese and gravy...
SERVING chips, cheese and gravy was always going to be a winner in Manchester.
So when Brewski opened in Chorlton serving Canadian speciality poutine french fries piled with squeaky cheese curds and drizzled with gravy - it was an instant hit.
The Wilbraham Road bar has been such a success that owners have now opened a second site in the city centre - and it’s even more of a cheese-lover’s dream.
The new Mosley Street site features an expanded menu including raclette - a giant wheel of molten Swiss cheese, brought out to your table and scraped on to dishes including Brewksi’s signature poutine and mac’n’cheese creations.
Head chef Eduardo de Peña said: “We’ve served a good few of them already. People love it being served at the table. When it goes out everyone stops and looks. It’s got a great wow factor.”
The Alpine speciality can be added to any dish on the menu for an extra £2.50, including a giant new meat platter piled high with fried chicken, seared steak, pulled pork and sausage patties. Catering to the office crowds nearby, Brewski Manchester will also serve deli sandwiches stuffed with buffalo chicken, Philly cheese steak and a daily changing selection of roasted carvery meats, to eat in or take away.
“A bit of an untapped market in this area is lunches,” said Eduardo. We’ve adapted the menu to fit working lunches and we’re focusing on good quality produce served hot and fast. All our chefs are proper chefs and a lot of us are from a fine dining background, we’re not your average lunch gaff. We want to take lunches to the next level in Manchester.”
The 42-seater venue also serves a selection of breakfast and brunch dishes, trans-Atlantic craft beers, gin and coffee.
