-

A WOMAN remained critically ill in hospital last night after being hit by a car in Hulme.

The 63-year-old was struck by a grey Audi A4 on Monton Street at around 9pm, on Sunday, April 8.

Police have established the vehicle was travelling along Moss Lane East before it turned right onto Monton Street. As the Audi drove towards Great Western Street, it hit the woman.

Emergency services were called and she was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury. The patient remains in hospital in a critical condition, police said yesterday.

The driver stayed at the scene to speak with officers and no arrests have been made.

PC Paul Hailwood, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “It’s been over two weeks since this collision and we have specialist officers supporting the woman’s family as she remains critically ill in hospital.

“We are doing all we can to piece together exactly what happened but really need witnesses to come forward, no matter how small or insignificant their information might seem. If you witnessed the collision or have any CCTV or dashcam footage, please contact police as soon as you can.”

Anyone with any information, or dashcam footage, is asked to call GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting reference number 2050 of April 9.
