Cutting edge event not for squeamish

-

dINNEr and dissection are on the menu at a live autopsy show coming to Manchester.

anatomy lab live is a touring hands-on post-mortem suite where audiences can have a go at performing a human dissection on a semi-synthetic cadaver.

a two-course dinner will be served at the event, at the Village hotel in ashton-underlyne, before human anatomist samuel Piri and his team of clinicians take centre stage to guide guests through the procedure. those attending will be kitted out with protective hats, masks and aprons as well as scalpels, scissors, forceps and bone saws to try out real surgical techniques.

the cadaver - known as VIVIt is a realistic replica of a human body, containing real internal organs from pigs, chosen for their anatomical similarity to humans.

the 2019 tour puts a surgical spin on the experience, which has attracted national acclaim on its previous run of sold-out shows.

Guests will learn about diseases and how they affect the body before examining and having a go at corrective surgery.

the experience is aimed at practising healthcare professionals and undergraduates studying anatomy, physiology or pathology, although anyone is welcome to attend.

the Manchester event takes place on January 26, 2019. tickets are on sale now priced at £79 from anatomylablive.co.uk .

Nhs and Nus discounts are available.
