DOMINIC Noonan told a jury police are ‘throwing mud at him hoping some will stick’ and said child sex abuse allegations against him were part of a ‘conspiracy.’

Domenyk Lattlay-Fottfoy, 53, being referred to by his former name Dominic Noonan in court, is charged with 13 offences, all of which he denies.

Yesterday, as he continued to give evidence in his trial at Manchester Crown Court, Mr Noonan said he ‘liked to be around young lads’ but denied ever sexually abusing any of them, adding that he had ‘no need’ to do it because he could go to the gay village for sex.

He said the allegations were malicious and hit out at the police and authorities, saying he believes there is a conspiracy against him. Asked if he thought one of the complainants, now in his forties, had made up the allegation for profit, the defendant replied: “He has a history of suing people. Just like they did with Rolf Harris.”

In often spiky exchanges with prosecutor Darren Preston, Mr Noonan said he had ‘had problems with the police since I was a kid’ accused them of ‘harassing’ him and said ‘they think if they throw enough mud at me, some will stick.’

Asked if he believed police were routinely trying to ‘fit him up,’ Mr Noonan said: “Not all of them. Only a couple.

“Some of those officers (who worked on his investigation) went round and did a proper job and interviewed witnesses.”

Mr Noonan claims for at least some of the period covered by the charges he was in prison or on remand for charges.

Mr Preston asked him if he believed he was ‘part of the conspiracy.’

The defendant replied: “The prosecution? Yes. You know what’s going on.”

It was put to him he ‘preyed’ on boys and plied them with cigarettes, drink and drugs, with Mr Preston asking: “Your behaviour to these boys was essentially giving them the keys to the sweet shop, wasn’t it?”

“There is no one I have ever given cigarettes, or drinks or drugs to, no chance,” Mr Noonan replied.

“Are you trying to say I’m trying to have sex with them? That’s what you’re trying to say”, he added.

“I don’t need to do that, I can go to the Gay Village.”

He added: “I go to the Gay Village. That’s where I go.”

Mr Noonan, from Moston, denies a total of eight counts of indecent assault, one count of attempted rape, two of inciting a child into sexual activity, one count of sexual assault and one of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
