A TEENAGER has been arrested after a dramatic police chase finished in a four-car pile-up in Chorlton.

A black Audi A5 ploughed into three other cars on Brantingham Road after being pursued by a number of GMP vehicles along Keppel Road.

The Audi hit a silver Hyundai I10, which then hit a work van approaching the junction with Manchester Road. A purple Volvo was also caught up in the carnage.

The drama unfolded at around 2.40pm yesterday. Witnesses say one man inside the Audi ran away from the scene.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving and he was taken into custody. The crash brought traffic to a standstill, but the drivers of the three other vehicles escaped without serious injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, who asked not to be named, said: “I was driving down Brantingham Road waiting to turn right at the junction when the Audi came out of nowhere on Keppel Road. “I saw it in my mirror but before I had chance to do anything I heard the brakes screeching and he went into the back of me. “Apart from my neck hurting I’m okay. “If he had hit the front of the car it would have been a different story. “The two lads ran away in different directions.” Another witness added: “The Audi came flying round the corner at 50mph and couldn’t turn the corner fast enough. “It ploughed right into that silver car there.
