Klopp a load of that! Bellamy’s City fear

- By STUART BRENNAN

LIVERPOOL will provide the greatest threat to City in their bid to retain their Premier League crown next season.

The Merseysiders have been the only team able to truly resist Pep Guardiola’s side this season, beating them twice in the Champions League and ending their unbeaten league run in a 4-3 Anfield thriller.

And Craig Bellamy, who has starred for both clubs, reckons Jurgen Klopp’s team – poised on the brink of the Champions League final – will be ready to challenge City next season.

“I believe Liverpool are one or two players away from mounting a charge on this incredible Manchester City team,” he said.

“The scary thing about it is City will get better too. This season has been that incredible but are they going to reach the same points tally they got this year?

“It’ll be difficult to do that next year - all the teams are going to strengthen, the finances allow them to.”

City are aiming to tweak their squad in the summer, with Jorginho heading their list of players wanted to strengthen the holding midfield position – with Liverpool bringing in Naby Keita to do the same job.

The Blues will also seek a top-class attacking player, with Riyad Mahrez still in pole position, but Liverpool are set to match their spending this year.

“Liverpool aren’t going to be selling, they’ve got Keita coming in, maybe a new goalkeeper, and with a couple of players they’re a team who could win a championship,” said Bellamy.
