Man stabbed in chest as he walks to the shops

A MAN was stabbed in the chest as he walked to buy gro­ceries.

The vic­tim, in his 40s, was at­tacked in Man­d­ley Park in Sal­ford at lunchtime yes­ter­day.

He was taken to Manch­ester Royal In­fir­mary. His in­juries are not thought to be lifethreat­en­ing. Po­lice were called to the scene, off Le­ices­ter Road, just af­ter noon. A huge part of the park was sealed off as of­fi­cers car­ried out a search.

The park stretches from Broughton Park to the border with Cheetham Hill.

In a state­ment, GMP said: “Po­lice were called to Man­d­ley Park Av­enue, Broughton, shortly be­fore 12.20pm on Thurs­day, May 17 to re­ports that a man had been stabbed. Of­fi­cers at­tend­ing found a male vic­tim in his 40s had suf­fered a knife wound to the chest.” Any­one with in­for­ma­tion is asked to call po­lice on 101 or Crimestop­pers on 0800 555 111.
