There are prob­lems with an­ti­so­cial park­ing out­side ‘many schools’ across Bury, ac­cord­ing to a coun­cil spokesman.

Mean­while, Bury lo­cal Dar­ren Barnes lives op­po­site St Andrew’s Church of Eng­land Pri­mary School, on Nut­tall Lane in Rams­bot­tom, and says he reg­u­larly sees bad park­ing out­side the school gates. I wit­nessed a very se­ri­ous ac­ci­dent out­side my house when a neigh­bour’s young son was hit by a Jeep while cross­ing the road be­tween parked cars.”

Bury Coun­cil has tri­alled a new scheme where traf­fic en­force­ment of­fi­cers must visit ev­ery school in the bor­ough at open­ing and clos­ing time, at least once a term, to clamp down on the prob­lem.

A coun­cil spokesman said: “We would ask par­ents to con­sider whether it is re­ally nec­es­sary to drop off and pick up their child right out­side the school gates, and urge all driv­ers to obey the high­way
