There are problems with antisocial parking outside ‘many schools’ across Bury, according to a council spokesman.
Meanwhile, Bury local Darren Barnes lives opposite St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School, on Nuttall Lane in Ramsbottom, and says he regularly sees bad parking outside the school gates. I witnessed a very serious accident outside my house when a neighbour’s young son was hit by a Jeep while crossing the road between parked cars.”
Bury Council has trialled a new scheme where traffic enforcement officers must visit every school in the borough at opening and closing time, at least once a term, to clamp down on the problem.
A council spokesman said: “We would ask parents to consider whether it is really necessary to drop off and pick up their child right outside the school gates, and urge all drivers to obey the highway
