Two men are cautioned after death of taxi driver at airport

TWO men have been cautioned following the death of a taxi driver at Manchester Airport.

William Brent Taylor, 57, known to friends as Brent, is understood to have fallen ill on April 6 after an altercatio­n in the multi-storey car park at Terminal Two.

The grandfathe­r, who was waiting to collect passengers at the time, was rushed to hospital following the incident and later died.

Police were called to reports of an assault at around 8.25am, an investigat­ion was launched and two men, aged 25 and 55, were arrested on suspicion of manslaught­er.

However, Greater Manchester Police issued a statement yesterday to say that the two men have now been cautioned for threatenin­g behaviour under Section 4 of the Public Order Act.

A spokesman added: “A postmortem examinatio­n has now taken place and concluded that there was no evidence of physical assault or injury that contribute­d to William’s death.

“An inquest into William’s death will take place.”

No more details about the incident were released by GMP.

Mr Taylor, who lived in Holmewood in Derbyshire, worked for private hire firm A-Line Taxis.

Described as ‘one of the nicest people you could have met’, his family are said to have been left devastated by his death.

Mr Taylor’s colleagues, meanwhile, said he was an ‘amazing and lovely’ man.
