SANKEYS SOAP

- By EMILY HEWARD

THE finishing touches are being put on the Parklife site at Heaton Park ready for the festival’s return this weekend.

This year’s event boasts the biggest and most varied line up yet, with Liam Gallagher, The xx, Lorde, N.E.R.D. and Jessie Ware among the standout acts.

The production itself also promises to be the biggest ever, with a new site layout incorporating a massive new stage and a relocated and improved VIP area.

We joined organisers at the site today for a behind-the-scenes tour of some of the festival’s new features.

If you splashed out on VIP tickets you’ve got loads to look forward to this weekend. Previously based near The Temple’s old spot, the mini-village has been relocated to near the colonnade with loads of exclusive new features - including three stages of its own.

The festival team have recreated the main room of legendary Ancoats nightclub Sankeys Soap - built to scale and complete with the original Phazon soundsystem. Hosting a line up of the club’s former residents including Krysko, Greg Lord, James Holroyd, Bucky, Rob Bright and Fetish Danielle Moore (Crazy P), Paulette, Will Tramp, Bad Fun DJs, Sharples, High Hoops, Funster, Boogie Nights, Soul Boutique and Disco Illusions. Lauren Lo Sung and Olli Ryder & Luke Welsh. Justice follow suit on Sunday night, topping a bill featuring MK, Gorgon City, Solardo, Bontan, Icarus, Mason Maynard and Will Tramp.
