AN ASPIRING rapper was shot once in the neck with a handgun, police believe.

Detectives probing the murder of Miguel ‘Migz’ Reynolds also think the evidence of three witnesses could prove crucial to the investigation.

Five people have so far been questioned in connection with the death of the 21-year-old, from central Manchester, who was gunned down in Liverpool.

As murder squad detectives continue to piece together the tragic events of June 7, it has also emerged that:

Miguel, who was shot in the neck at around 8pm, was shot just once;

A shooting on a nearby street on the same night is now being linked to the murder. Previously, detectives had said they were keeping an ‘open mind’ about that possibility;

That earlier shooting in which no one was injured, also involved a handgun.

Police are said to be following ‘a number of positive lines of inquiry’ but are still unsure whether the attack was targeted or why Miguel, who performed under the alias Lil Gwop Boy and had just released a music video on YouTube, was killed.

Police are also appealing to three witnesses who may have information about the shootings in the Netherton area of Liverpool.

Det Chief Insp Ian Warlow said: “We are particularly keen to trace three people, who we believe may have information that could assist our investigation.

“Two people were in the area of Henry Hickman Close and Peterborough Drive, when the first earlier shooting happened on Marie Curie Avenue.

“We believe they may have seen some or all of the people involved and would be keen to trace them.

“We are also keen to speak with a third person, who was in the area of Magdalen Square towards Peterborough Drive near to the health centre.

“Again, they may have seen some or all of those involved in this incident. I would urge them to come forward and give any information they may have, no matter how small, as it could be vital in progressing our investigation.”

Five people have so far been arrested in connection with the murder of Mr Reynolds with the latest taken into custody on Friday.

Appealing for information over the murder of Mr Reynolds, DCI Warlow added: “While we are keeping an open mind as to the motive for this murder, we are pursuing a number of positive lines of inquiry.

“I would continue to urge anyone with any information to come forward so we can take action.”

Anyone with information about the murder can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
