CITY Gundogan will not be tempted by Barcelona

ILKAY Gundogan has declared he is happy at City, with Barcelona said to be sniffing around.

The Blues midfielder, currently on international duty with Germany in the World Cup, is said to be the subject of £50m interest from the Spanish giants.

That would represent a huge profit for City, who bought Gundogan for £20m two years ago.

The former Borussia Dortmund star has also been limited in his appearances for the Blues by two serious injuries, and kept out of the team by the brilliant form of Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva.

But City have already said Gundogan is not for sale, and the player has reaffirmed his commitment to the cause, saying he is happy in Manchester.

“I have plenty of time on my current contract, two years to go,” he said.

“But it also depends on the club, if they want me to stay. Everyone can see and feel I am really happy here.

“With the way we play, with the people around me, in the city, in the community, I really enjoy it here and really enjoy my life. I’m happy. It was great to win the Premier League title, but there are plenty of things still to achieve.

“We are committed to this every year at City, not just the players, but the coaching staff, to try to win the biggest trophies.

“That’s what we will be trying to do next season and the season after.”

City, meanwhile, are set to clinch their first transfer deal of the summer, according to sources in Italy.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is said to be ready to rubber-stamp an initial bid of £46m for Italy international midfielder Jorginho.

The Blues are staying quiet on the matter, but Naples is rife with talk that a deal, which could eventually be worth £52.5m, will be sealed in the next 24 hours.

That is close to the price Napoli were asking for in the first place, with City said to have opened the bidding at around £35m.

The two clubs have been wrangling over the price for weeks, with the player already agreeing an £80,000-a-week contract with City through his agent Joao Santos.

But it was reported in Italy that Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and City’s Txiki Begiristain have struck a deal, which is expected to be agreed by De Laurentiis before the paperwork gets done. If the deal goes through, Napoli will bank a record profit for a player they bought from Hellas Verona for £7m in 2014.
