ENGLAND’S penalty shootout win against Colombia in Moscow was the UK’s most watched television event since 2012, according to ITV.

ITV’s coverage of the Three Lions’ last-16 clash at the Spartak Stadium attracted an audience of 16.5 million.

Viewing figures peaked at 24.4m for Eric Dier’s winning spot-kick – more than any other live sport event since England lost to Portugal on penalties at Euro 2004.

ENGLAND midfielder Fabian Delph has become a father for the third time, the player has announced.

Delph, who travelled home from the World Cup in Russia to be with his expectant wife, Natalie, last week, has revealed in an Instagram post that she gave birth to a daughter yesterday morning.

Delph, 28, added that he is now flying back to Russia to rejoin the rest of the England squad, who have returned to their Repino base following Tuesday’s dramatic victory over Colombia.

The City star, who accompanie­d his post with a picture of himself on a plane, wrote: “I’ve just experience­d the most amazing 24 hours. Watching my brothers come through a tough game both mentally and physically, I kicked every ball and felt every bit of emotion with the players, staff and fans.

“At 07:52 me, my wife and two beautiful daughters welcomed their baby sister into the world. I can’t put into words the happiness and gratitude I’m feeling.

“Back to Russia now.”

COMEDY duo David Baddiel and Frank Skinner’s 1990s football song Three Lions has topped the iTunes chart following England’s victory over Colombia.

The original version of the pair’s collaborat­ion with band The Lightning Seeds from 1996 is ahead of Shotgun by singer-songwriter George Ezra and electronic group Clean Bandit’s hit Solo..

Wimbledon bosses say they were surprised at Fifa’s decision to schedule the World Cup final to clash with the men’s singles final.

England’s World Cup quarter-final against Sweden will clash with the middle Saturday at Wimbledon.

And the World Cup final, to kick-off at 4pm, will coincide with the men’s singles final at 2pm on July 15.

While Wimbledon organisers have no plans to screen the football anywhere in the grounds, they expressed their bewilderme­nt at the footballin­g body’s scheduling decision.
