Wolves want Zinchenko
WOLVES want City winger Aleks Zinchenko.
The Ukrainian international faces a fight for regular football at the Blues, despite impressing as a makeshift full-back last season.
The return from injury of Benjamin Mendy means he will be pushed further down the pecking order at the Etihad, with Fabian Delph set to be back-up at left-back.
Newly-promoted Wolves are ready to invest heavily on their return to the Premier League and are prepared to make Zinchenko the most expensive signing in their history.
M.E.N. Sport revealed in March Guardiola had given the 21-year-old until the end of the season to convince him he could be part of his plans next term.
City were weighing up the possibility of another loan move after he spent a season in Holland with PSV Eindhoven.
But Wolves’ interest has given them the opportunity to cash in on the player they signed from Ufa for an undisclosed fee in 2016.
With Pep Guardiola closing in on the £60m signing of Riyad Mahrez, he is set to be well-stocked in terms of attacking talent. Zinchenko will overtake Ruben Neves as the most expensive player in Wolves’ history at £15.8m. CITY defender Danilo has suffered a worrying ankle injury.
The Brazilian international sprained ligaments in training on Thursday and sat out last night’s quarter-final against Belgium.
He will now begin treatment and rehab in a bid to be ready for the start of City’s Premier League campaign.
In a statement Brazil said: “Rightback Danilo suffered a ligament injury in his left ankle after sprains in training this Thursday in Kazan.
“He has begun treatment with the medical department of the national team.”
