Two men hunted after teenage girl raped in park late at night

DETECTIVES are investigat­ing the rape of a young teenage girl at a south Manchester park.

She was attacked while walking through Crowcroft Park, in Levenshulm­e, late on Sunday night.

Police have ramped up patrols in the area and a cordon was put in place around the park while officers carried out initial enquiries.

The teenager had crossed the park from Stockport Road on her way home, when she was raped after 11.30pm on Sunday night, police said.

When she returned home, the victim told her mum what had happened, who then alerted officers at around 12.30am on Monday.

Two offenders have been described to police by the victim.

The first man was Asian, in his 30s, with a short black beard and dark hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt with black shorts and a black body warmer, and was carrying a dark bag.

The other man was also Asian, around 35, with a long black beard and black hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt with dark blue, long shorts and Nike trainers.

Detective Inspector Geoffrey Machent, of Greater Manchester Police’s City of Manchester Division, said: “The teenager is being looked after by specially-trained officers while our door-to-door and CCTV enquiries continue.

“If you were in the area that night, please get in touch.”
