Child sex abuser had sick videos on phone
MAN JAILED AFTER WOMAN FOUND INDECENT IMAGES ON MOBILE AND TOLD POLICE
A MAN admitted sexually assaulting a schoolgirl after a woman found vile videos on his phone.
Bryan Ashcroft abused the young teenager over a number of years.
He has now been locked up for 10 years having admitting a string of child sex charges.
They included two counts of sexual assault by penetration; five counts of sexual assault; one count of voyeurism; and two counts of having indecent images of children.
Minshull Street Crown Court court heard how Ashcroft’s awful crimes were uncovered in October last year when a woman found indecent photos of a schoolgirl on his mobile.
As she scrolled through pictures, the woman came across indecent videos of the teenager.
The woman took these images straight to the police and Ashcroft was arrested, later admitting: “It must have been me.”
The 36-year-old, of School Crescent, Stalybridge, pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier trial.
He has now been made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and will be on the sex offender register for life.
Detective Constable Louise Isherwood of GMP’s Public Protection Investigation Unit, said: “The impact of Ashcroft’s actions on this young teenager is absolutely unimaginable, I am so relieved he’s now behind bars, for her, and for those around her. “She was incredibly brave to come forward, sharing vital evidence with our officers so that we could put the case together against Ashcroft. “Her strength means that other children will be protected from the vile actions of this sex offender.” Please visit www.itsnotokay.co.uk for information for children, young people, parents, carers and professionals on how to spot the signs of child sexual exploitation and what to do about it.
