Fire crews remove trapped van from under bridge

-

FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue after a van driver got caught under a bridge in Rochdale.

A crew were called in by the embarrassed motorist at about 2.55pm yesterday. A spokesman for the fire service said a single crew attended and they were able to deflate the tyres and pull the van to safety.

The police also attended for ‘traffic management’ purposes and the drama was over within 10 minutes, the spokesman added.

It is understood there was no structural damage to the bridge.

In an update confirming the road was later reopened, Manchester Fire added: “More great work by our firefighters.”
