Police probe after man in his 50s found dead

-

AN investigation was under way last night after a man was found dead at a house in north Manchester.

Detectives were called to the property, on Hamerton Avenue in Collyhurst, at around 1.15pm yesterday.

A man in his 50s was found dead.

Officers are trying to confirm if the man’s death was suspicious.

A Home Office pathologist was conducting a post-mortem examination to establish a cause of death.

Police cordoned off an area on Hamerton Road while officers carried out enquiries.

Patrols have also been stepped up.

Officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Det Chief Insp Colin Larkin, of GMP’s major incident team, said: “We are only a few hours into our investigation into this man’s death and our inquiries are very much ongoing.

“People in the area will see additional officers, some who are there doing extra patrols, while others visit houses and scour CCTV in the area, to establish how this man died.

“As this only happened a short time ago, it’s likely that someone who was around Hamerton Road or the surrounding area, may remember seeing something that stood out from the ordinary.

“If you have information that you think could help our investigation, please do the right thing and contact police as soon as you can.

“While we cannot bring this man back, we can help give his family the answers they deserve at this devastating time.”

Anyone with information can call police on 0161 856 6777 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
