Woman, 55, in murder quiz as man found dead
A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died at a house in Miles Platting.
Police were called to Bradford Road at around 12.45pm on Saturday following reports of a man’s death.
A cordon was put along the front garden of a property while forensic investigators were drafted in to examine the scene.
Neighbours spoke of their shock and said the victim was a ‘lovely man.’
One resident, who asked not to be named, said: “He only moved into his home a couple of months ago and lived with a woman. He was a really nice man, dead jolly. He would come in our garden and have a chat regularly.”
A post-mortem examination took place on yesterday to establish the cause of the man’s death. The results have not yet been made public.
A 55-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody for questioning. Inquiries into the circumstances around the incident are ongoing.
Det Insp Dave Sinclair, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “We have been working around the clock to establish how this man died and are carrying out a number of enquiries in the local area.
“If you live nearby and saw or heard anything suspicious yesterday afternoon, it’s really important that you share this with police at the earliest possible opportunity.
“This man’s family is being given specialist support at this difficult time, but you can help them by passing on any detail that could help our investigation.
“I would also stress that this appears to be an isolated incident and so would like to reassure that there is no wider threat to the community.”
