Motorcycli­st killed after bike hit sign

A MOTORCYCLI­ST has died after his bike crashed into a street sign in Bolton.

The man, whose age has not yet been released, suffered fatal injuries in the collision on Friday afternoon.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Emergency services were called to Moss Bank Way, near to Johnson Fold post office, at 3.30pm.

The road has been closed in both directions between Chorley Old Road and Tattersall Avenue while investigat­ion work is carried out.

A spokesman for GMP said: “Shortly before 3.35pm on Friday, police were called to Moss Bank Way to reports that a motorbike had been involved in a collision with a street sign post.

“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.

The man is the third biker killed on Greater Manchester’s roads in two days. On Thursday, two men died within hours of each other in separate incidents in Stretford.
