Search on for distinctive 4x4
POLICE are searching for a 4x4 with a ‘distinctive horse emblem’ on the spare tyre cover following a spate of thefts from vans in Tameside.
Officers have also released CCTV footage of two men they’d like to speak to in connection with the break-ins.
It shows what is believed to be a light-coloured Kia Sportage 4x4 pull up opposite a Vauxhall van, before two men get out. At one point one of the men runs off while another hides behind the van as a car passes by.
It comes after a dozen vans were targeted in Stalybridge, Mossley and Ashton-under-Lyne in May.
Detectives are treating them as linked. Pc Tony Lawton from GMP’s Tameside division, said: “As part of our investigation, we have released this footage of men we would like to speak to in connection with these incidents.
“I’d like to appeal to anyone who recognises these men to please get in touch with police. I am also keen to hear from anyone who has information on the vehicle.”
