DIARYDIANNE Mary Berry drums for Rick at festival
IF you thought Rick Astley duetting with the Foo Fighters was an unlikely musical combination, then just wait until you see who the pop star has teamed up with now. For Rick was joined on stage at Camp Bestival by none other than Great British Bake Off queen Mary Berry.
Mary, 83, unleashed her inner rock chick to play the drums on stage during Rick’s performance.
A video posted on social media shows Berry keeping the beat while Astley croons the chorus to his song Beautiful Life.
Grandmother Mary, who was dressed in jeans and a bohoinspired top, was met with loud cheers from the crowd as she worked some killer poses. Ahead of the performance, Rick, 52, from Newton-le-Willows, shared a photograph of himself with Berry.
He wrote: “Looking forward to playing @CampBestival tonight... Look who I just bumped into! The wonderful Mary Berry!
“For those of you at CampBestival, I’ll see you on the CastleStage tonight at 10pm! - Rick x”
After the performance, Rick and Mary shared an embrace on stage as he thanked her for helping it out.
Last year the tables were turned when Astley was invited on stage by American rock band The Foo Fighters while they were performing at Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival.
The Dave Grohl-fronted band played Astley’s ‘80s hit Never Gonna Give You Up with him on stage in an incredible new rock ‘n’ roll version of the Stock Aitken and Waterman classic.
Camp Bestival, which was being held at Dorset’s Lulworth Castle at the weekend, is the sister, family festival to music festival Bestival, which takes place on the first weekend in August.
The latest star performance from Rick comes amid a hectic schedule with the release of his new album.
And in between his musical performances, he has also filmed a cameo on Channel 4 drama Hollyoaks, as we revealed last week.
