Police catch up with lane hog

A DRIVER was busted for hogging the middle lane of the M60 - and people weren’t happy with him.

The owner of a Nissan Qashqai was tailed for three junctions of the busy motorway on Friday night before being pulled over.

Police observed the vehicle travelling as slow as 40mph in the middle lane, causing major inconvenience to other drivers.

The driver was pulled over at Junction 13 near Kearsley and sought to blame his own children for his poor driving.

A tweet issued by GMP traffic caused a stir amongst fellow drivers. It said: “Driver of this Nissan Qashqai was followed between Junction 10 to 13 of the M60 hogging the middle lane doing 40mph causing traffic to use lane three to pass.

“Driver stopped and issued a TOR. Blamed his children for driving in the middle lane!”

Dozens of drivers commented on the tweet, sharing their own experience of middle lane hoggers.

One user said: “In my eye’s this is more dangerous than someone driving past you at 80mph, they seem oblivious to what they are doing wrong and the dangers they pose to other drivers.

Another said: “See this every day. Then you have cars both undertaking and overtaking because of it. Drives me mental.”

And it appears the annoying habit gets a lot of people’s gears grinding.

A staggering 58 per cent of people surveyed in an RAC Insurance poll said middle lane hogging is the most irritating driving habit.
