Roberts has had no talks with Pep over Blues future

- By LIAM CORLESS

PATRICK Roberts hasn’t spoken to Pep Guardiola about his City future this summer, the player has revealed.

The 21-year-old has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons on loan at Celtic and in May said he wanted to fight his way into Guardiola’s plans for next season.

However, two months later and having barely featured on City’s tour of the US, Roberts sounds less optimistic about his Etihad future having not had any conversation with Guardiola about where he stands ahead of the new campaign.

“No [I’ve not spoken to Guardiola], I’m just here to train, work hard and get my fitness up,” Roberts said. “We’ll see what happens. I know the window closes soon. If something happens before then, great. We’ll have to see what happens. I can’t really say anything. We’ll have to see what’s best for me. But right now, I don’t know.”

Roberts won seven trophies during his lengthy loan spell at Celtic and refused to rule out a return to Glasgow with the SPL champions.

“Obviously I said at the end of the season that I spent a good two-and-ahalf years there and my time was brilliant,” he added.

Meanwhile, Brahim Diaz gave a more upbeat response when he was asked about his chances of breaking into the first team next season.

The 18-year-old said: “That’s what we try to do every day – train hard so that one day we can play for City or for another club.”
