Jack talks of break-up stress after troll attack
CORONATION Street star Jack P Shepherd has hit back at a troll who criticised his appearance on Twitter.
The Corrie favourite replied to the troll to explain he had lost his hair through stress over the breakup from his girlfriend of 15 years.
The individual wrote: “Wtf has David Platt done to his hair?
“Looks like roadkill stuck to his head. **** ”.
And Jack, who has played hairdresser David since 1990, shared the comment with his 400,000 followers and replied: “Hi, my hair has started to fall out because I went through a break-up with my girlfriend of 15 years last year. And was very stressed. I’m sorry Gary.”
One fan praised: “Brilliant come back.”
And another said: “Don’t you dare apologise... you look great he was very rude... ignore people like that!! Xx”
The award-winning actor, 30, split from his childhood sweetheart Lauren Shippey, with whom he has two children Nyla and Reuben, last year.
He is now dating Hanni Treweek, who also works on the ITV soap in an off-screen role.
Jack has received high praise for helping to tackle the topic of male rape for the first time in the soap’s 57-year history when his character David was drugged on a night out with his friend Josh Tucker.
Survivors Manchester and the National Male Survivors helpline, run by Safeline, saw a 1,700 per cent increase in male survivors contacting it when the scenes first aired on March 16.
In May Jack, whose character also went through the trauma of his wife Kylie being stabbed to death on the street, was proud to scoop the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards.
Last year he was flooded with compliments on his new tousled hairstyle and beard.
