- By DAVID OTTEWELL david.ottewell@trinitymirror.com

THE average delay time for every service leaving Manchester airport has been revealed.

New analysis examines the delay times for every one of hundreds of thousands of flights over the past two years.

The service with the highest average delay over that time has been Pakistan International’s Manchester to New York flight.

The route was discontinued late last year - but before that it had flown 128 times since July 2016 with an AVERAGE delay of 63.2 minutes.

Among active routes, Air Canada’s Manchester-Toronto service had the worst record over the past two years.

Passengers have suffered an average delay of 63.1 minutes.

Freebird’s Manchester-Antayla route has an average delay of 60.1 minutes, while passengers on Pakistan International’s service to Lahore are waiting an average of 43.7 minutes.

The analysis only includes services which have flown at least 50 times from Manchester airport between July 2016 and June this year. Some of the services will no longer be active.

Thomson Airways became TUI airways last October and data for TUI services is counted separately.

The data is published by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The shortest average delay for any route flying from Manchester over the last two years is Virgin’s service to Boston. It has had an average delay of just 5.5 minutes.

Jet2.com takes second place, with its Manchester-Salzburg route having an average delay of six minutes.

If you’re thinking of travelling from Manchester to Toronto with Air Canada, bear in mind things could be even worse.

The highest average delay for any major route in the UK over the last two years is Kuwait Airways’ Heathrow to New York JFK service.

It hasn’t flown since December last year - but up to that point its 52 flights had an average delay of 112.6 minutes, or just under two hours.

The M.E.N. has contacted each airline for comment.
