Car aban­doned af­ter round­about smash

A CAR was aban­doned at the scene of a col­li­sion.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to re­ports of a smash in­volv­ing two cars on Stock­port Road, at the junc­tion with Hyde Road, at Ard­wick Green Round­about, at 5.20am yes­ter­day.

The oc­cu­pants of the black Golf fled from the scene and aban­doned the ve­hi­cle.

The driver of the other car in­volved, a Mer­cedes, re­mained to speak with po­lice.

An am­bu­lance was called to the scene, but it is un­der­stood there were no re­ports of any se­ri­ous in­juries.

Hyde Road was par­tially blocked while po­lice made enquiries.

Driv­ers were warned of heavy traf­fic in the area dur­ing morn­ing rush hour. A spokes­woman for Greater Manch­ester Po­lice said it was a two-ve­hi­cle road traf­fic col­li­sion, and added: “We were called to Stock­port Road at 5.20am.

“The oc­cu­pants of one car have run off.

“It is a black Golf that they have run off from.

“The other car in­volved is a Mer­cedes.”
