Help trap ‘Spiderman’ raider

Manchester Evening News - - NEWS -

A ROBBER carrying a Spiderman bag struck twice in 30 minutes.

The thug used the plastic carrier, featuring the comic crimefighter, to take away goods after threatening shop workers with a machete.

Police have now released CCTV images following the two armed robberies in Wigan. At around 6.45am on Saturday, September 29, a man entered the ARG Food and Wine Store on Hardybutts.

He demanded cash before launching a violent attack swinging a machete in the direction of the shop assistant.

The store employees were unharmed and the offender fled empty-handed heading towards Darlington Street East.

About half an hour later, a second attack occurred at RS McColls Convenience Store on Warrington Road. It is believed the same offender was involved as he once again brandished a machete at the shop assistant who was forced to hand over cash and cigarettes. Police have now released CCTV of a man they would like to speak to in connection with these incidents.

Anyone with information can call police on 0161 856 7257 or 101 quoting incident number 684 of 29/09/18.
