Jailed, 130mph BMW driver who hit traf­fic lights

A MAN who smashed his car into traf­fic lights fol­low­ing a high­speed pur­suit has been jailed.

Daniel Breeze’s BMW reached speeds of 90mph through Lit­tle Hulton, Sal­ford, af­ter he was chased by po­lice from the M61 – where he reached speeds of al­most dou­ble the speed limit.

The 24-year-old, of Pat­ton Court in Sal­ford, failed to stop for Lan­cashire Po­lice on the mo­tor­way in the early hours of Septem­ber 20.

Of­fi­cers from GMP joined the pur­suit at junc­tion 5 and say at one point the BMW was trav­el­ling at 130mph on the south­bound car­riage­way. Breeze then turned off the mo­tor­way and con­tin­ued to drive at high speed through Lit­tle Hulton be­fore crash­ing into traf­fic lights on High Street in Walk­den.

Breeze was ar­rested at the scene on sus­pi­cion of dan­ger­ous driv­ing and fail­ing to stop for po­lice. He was charged and ap­peared at Bolton Crown Court where a judge sen­tenced him to nine months in prison.

Breeze was also banned from driv­ing for 30 month and will be re­quired to take an ex­tended test.
