Jailed, 130mph BMW driver who hit traffic lights
A MAN who smashed his car into traffic lights following a highspeed pursuit has been jailed.
Daniel Breeze’s BMW reached speeds of 90mph through Little Hulton, Salford, after he was chased by police from the M61 – where he reached speeds of almost double the speed limit.
The 24-year-old, of Patton Court in Salford, failed to stop for Lancashire Police on the motorway in the early hours of September 20.
Officers from GMP joined the pursuit at junction 5 and say at one point the BMW was travelling at 130mph on the southbound carriageway. Breeze then turned off the motorway and continued to drive at high speed through Little Hulton before crashing into traffic lights on High Street in Walkden.
Photos from the aftermath of the smash show the BMW hit the lights with so much force it knocked them over.
Breeze was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. He was charged and appeared at Bolton Crown Court where a judge sentenced him to nine months in prison.
Breeze was also banned from driving for 30 month and will be required to take an extended test.
