Balotelli trolls Reds on 6-1 anniversary

- By JOE BRAY

SEVEN years after Mario Balotelli scored at Old Trafford and revealed the now-infamous ‘Why Always Me?’ T-shirt, the former City striker is still trolling rivals United.

On the anniversary of the iconic 6-1 victory at United, the striker took to Instagram to delight City fans all over again.

Balotelli’s side-footed finish gave the Blues the lead on that momentous day, before he added another and City romped to victory with further goals then scored by Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and David Silva.

The win condemned United to their biggest home defeat since 1955, and many City fans celebrate the day as the moment the power shifted to the blue half of Manchester.

Now, seven years on from that day, Balotelli took the opportunity to rub United’s noses in the defeat again.

He posted an image to Instagram yesterday with his ‘Why Always Me?’ slogan and accompanied it with the caption: “Don’t ever forget this day @manchesterunited”

His image also said “Happy 6-1 day!” and immediately gained thousands of likes.

City went on to win the league that season, beating United to the title in injury time of the final game.

Since then, they have added two more Premier League titles, while the Reds have won just one.

Balotelli left the Etihad in 2013, and has since played for AC Milan, Liverpool and current club Nice.
