Turgut remains a Devil for another year

- By TOM BRAMWELL

FORMER Hull FC forward Jansin Turgut has signed a new deal to remain with Salford for the 2019 Betfred Super League season.

The 22-year-old, who has also featured on loan at Featherstone Rovers and Doncaster, initially joined the Red Devils on a short-term deal in July and featured in the Super 8 Qualifiers fixtures against London Broncos and Leeds Rhinos.

Coach Ian Watson said: “Jansin is a young middle with Super League experience who, when coming in at The Qualifiers stage last year, showed glimpses of his versatility, ability and aggression.

“Jansin is also a former England Academy captain who possesses great potential and, hopefully, he can fulfil that potential here at Salford.

“[He] brings an extra level of competition to our squad and is determined to position himself as a starting player.”

Red Devils director of rugby operations Ian Blease indicated the club are looking to add further strength to the pack with the help of its Squad Builder funding drive.

“We’re really pleased to get Jansin over the line,” he said. “Jansin came in for the closing stages of the 2018 season and showed a desire, attitude and hunger to perform for the club which made us want to keep him on for the 2019 season.”

Turgut will be among the Red Devils squad that reports for the first day of pre-season training today.
