Couriers will give backing to charity

-

COURIERS will display missing persons posters on their back in the run-up to Christmas.

The Ride to Find campaign will see more than 100 Deliveroo riders in Manchester display pictures and appeal details of missing people throughout next month.

Other cities taking part include London and Birmingham.

In Manchester alone, a person goes missing every 20 minutes. Each year, more than 10,000 adults and 16,000 children go missing.

Deliveroo CEO and the company’s first ever rider, Will Shu, said: “Our riders are at the heart of our business and are seen by communities up and down the country as they travel our streets to deliver food, so it’s amazing that our network of riders has volunteered to use our recognisable backpacks to create mobile billboards in support for such an important cause.”

Customers will also be given the opportunity to donate to Missing People via the Deliveroo app.

They are the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting missing people and their loved ones.

Jo Youle, CEO at Missing People said: “Deliveroo will help us to reunite missing people with their families this December and will be able reach people and places Missing People cannot.”

All Deliveroo’s riders will also be encouraged by the company to sign up to receive Missing People’s Child Rescue alerts. This will then notify then whenever a child in their area is considered to be at very high risk of coming to harm.
