More can be done on this
ON breakfast television, Mayor Andy Burnham stated he contributes 15per cent of his salary to the homeless in Manchester.
On all Council Tax payers demands who live in our city, we contribute to Mr Burnham’s wages.
Hence the 15% he allegedly pays to the homeless is in actual fact a rate payers contribution, of which he claims the limelight.
Moreover, he also stated, rather than give individually to the homeless in Manchester, a charity is being implemented - A bed for the night - so people can pay direct.
People of Manchester should realise if you do contribute to the said charity you pay twice.
Also Mr Burnham was challenged about homes for the homeless, given swanky, expensive apartments are being built in our town.
Why can’t people on lower incomes or first time buyers have a share in this uneven playing field and get on the property ladder?
Mr Burnham replied that we are waiting for the Government to allocate funding to local authorities but we will be starting to build more council homes in the future.
In other words, fleece the lower paid and working class, divide a city financially and create a standard of living for the affluent people who live in Manchester.
My message to Mr Burnham is, if you want to score points, go immediately to the City Council of Manchester, request the £10 million pounds they recouped from parking fines and start building affordable homes now instead of funding or subsidising the private sector.
