Man arrested after guns seized during drugs raid on house

GUNS were seized following a drugs raid at a house.

Officers used a battering ram to smash their way inside the property on Reins Lee Road in Ashton-underLyne yesterday.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs. He remained in custody. Police also discovered a number of air rifles at the house which were examined by specialist firearms officers.

GMP Tameside North posted on Facebook: “This morning a drugs warrant was conducted by the Ashton Waterloo team on Reins Lee Road after receiving intelligen­ce regarding drugs and firearms.

“A male at the address was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug (Class A) and was taken to Ashton Police Station to await interview. During the search a number of air rifles were also discovered. GMP firearms officers attended the address to make sure the rifles were safe.”
