Man ar­rested af­ter guns seized dur­ing drugs raid on house

GUNS were seized fol­low­ing a drugs raid at a house.

Of­fi­cers used a bat­ter­ing ram to smash their way in­side the prop­erty on Reins Lee Road in Ash­ton-un­der­Lyne yesterday.

A man was ar­rested at the scene on sus­pi­cion of pos­sess­ing Class A drugs. He re­mained in cus­tody. Po­lice also dis­cov­ered a num­ber of air ri­fles at the house which were ex­am­ined by spe­cial­ist firearms of­fi­cers.

GMP Tame­side North posted on Face­book: “This morn­ing a drugs war­rant was con­ducted by the Ash­ton Water­loo team on Reins Lee Road af­ter re­ceiv­ing in­tel­li­gence re­gard­ing drugs and firearms.

“A male at the ad­dress was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug (Class A) and was taken to Ash­ton Po­lice Sta­tion to await in­ter­view. Dur­ing the search a num­ber of air ri­fles were also dis­cov­ered. GMP firearms of­fi­cers at­tended the ad­dress to make sure the ri­fles were safe.”
