Ham­mer thugs threaten boy, six

A BOY of six was threat­ened with a ham­mer dur­ing a ter­ri­fy­ing rob­bery out­side a KFC.

The young­ster and his dad were walk­ing to their car af­ter leav­ing the fast food restau­rant on Hud­der­s­field Road, Old­ham, when they were tar­geted by two masked thugs, po­lice said.

One of the men threat­ened the 40-year-old and his son with a ham­mer, de­mand­ing he hand over his car keys.

Ter­ri­fied for their safety, he did as he was told, and the two men got in the ve­hi­cle and drove off.

Po­lice were called to the KFC at around 9.30pm. The ve­hi­cle was re­cov­ered on Rib­ble Road, Old­ham, sev­eral hours later.

A num­ber of items were from the car in­clud­ing the vic­tim’s lap­top.

The rob­bers are de­scribed as white, be­tween 5ft 10in and 6ft and in their early 20s.
