Man arrested after scratchcard ram-raid
A MAN is being quizzed by police following a ram-raid at a supermarket.
Police say a large amount of scratchcards were stolen during the break in at Asda on Bolton Road, Atherton, in the early hours of yesterday.
It’s understood a vehicle smashed into the metal shutters at the front of the store, forcing them open. The scratchcards were taken and the vehicle left the scene. A spokesman for GMP confirmed that a 21-year-old man was arrested a short time later in connection with the incident. He remained in police custody.
The force said: “We were called just after 1.35am on Friday to Asda on Bolton Road to reports a car had crashed into the front of the store.
“Officers attended and a man, aged 21, was arrested a short time later.
“He is currently being questioned by police. Inquiries are ongoing.”
An Asda spokesman said: “We are assisting the police with their inquiries.”
