RIO Ferdinand has sold his mansion after slashing the price.

The seven-bedroom property is set on a quiet street on the outskirts of affluent Alderley Edge.

It initially went on the market four years ago for £4.5m, before the price was later reduced to just under £3m.

The home, which the former Manchester United and England star shared with his late wife Rebecca and their three children, is understood to have been sold earlier this year.

Rebecca tragically passed away in 2015 after a battle with cancer, and the former footballer turned pundit is now based in London with his family.

Last month he proposed to his girlfriend Kate Wright during a holiday to Dubai with his children.

His former home still appears online as sold subject to contract, with a price of £2,999,500, although The Sun reports the final sale price was closer to £2m.

The huge property boasts six bathrooms, a drawing room with vaulted ceilings, indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, gym, a large garden and two garages.

Estate agent particulars for the impressive home, set in a secluded conservation area, describe it as having ‘undergone tasteful sympathetic remodelling in recent years.’
