-

OPPORTUNIST thieves have been going into hospitals and pubs and raiding empty staff rooms.

Police in Rochdale have issued a warning to businesses and other places of work following a spate of recent thefts.

They say crooks are waiting until staff are busy or distracted before sneaking in. Car keys, cars and other items have been stolen.

GMP Pennine posted on its Facebook page, urging businesses to make sure their employees’ belongings are locked away safely.

It read: “Opportunist thieves have been entering businesses such as public houses, hospitals and various other work premises searching for unlocked staff rooms. They have been entering whilst staff are busy.

“They have been taking personal property, vehicle keys and vehicles.

“This is occurring throughout Rochdale. If you own a business please ensure your staff have a safe and secure place to store their personal belongings and that it is kept locked at all times.”
