Po­lice is­sue warn­ing af­ter se­ries of sneak thief raids

OP­POR­TUNIST thieves have been go­ing into hospi­tals and pubs and raid­ing empty staff rooms.

Po­lice in Rochdale have is­sued a warn­ing to busi­nesses and other places of work fol­low­ing a spate of re­cent thefts.

They say crooks are wait­ing un­til staff are busy or dis­tracted be­fore sneak­ing in. Car keys, cars and other items have been stolen.

GMP Pen­nine posted on its Face­book page, urg­ing busi­nesses to make sure their em­ploy­ees’ be­long­ings are locked away safely.

It read: “Op­por­tunist thieves have been en­ter­ing busi­nesses such as pub­lic houses, hospi­tals and var­i­ous other work premises search­ing for un­locked staff rooms. They have been en­ter­ing whilst staff are busy.

“They have been tak­ing per­sonal prop­erty, ve­hi­cle keys and ve­hi­cles.

“This is oc­cur­ring through­out Rochdale. If you own a busi­ness please en­sure your staff have a safe and se­cure place to store their per­sonal be­long­ings and that it is kept locked at all times.”
