‘I’ll destroy Zerafa after Khan snub’
KELL Brook has vowed to make short work of Michael Zerafa in Sheffield tonight as he looks to take out his frustrations over his apparent failure to land a bout with Amir Khan.
Brook, pictured, labelled Khan a ‘con’ on Thursday after learning the Bolton man is more likely to pursue a fight against American welterweight Terence Crawford than focus on an all-British superfight.
Instead Brook will focus on making a further statement in his WBA superwelterweight final eliminator against the little-known Zerafa, and force his way back into top-level contention.
After weighing in at 10st 10lbs and 2oz yesterday, Brook shrugged off suggestions that weight issues had scuppered the Khan bout, insisting: “I can make welterweight. The kid from Bolton doesn’t want it.”
Brook knows he cannot afford any more slip-ups in his quest for future world title bouts after successive brave defeats to Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Brook added: “I’m going to seek and destroy.
“I’m looking to get rid of this guy, and move on to the champions who want to fight.”
