Shakers looking to push into play-off positions

- By DAVE CROWTHER-GREEN

BURY will have the chance to move into the Sky Bet League Two automatic promotion places should they beat Exeter City at Gigg Lane today.

Manager Ryan Lowe, who yesterday was named Manager of the Month for November, made nine changes for the midweek Checkatrade Trophy trip to Mansfield, with forward Dominic Telford getting the only goal of the game.

Today’s opponents sit seventh in the table, and are in their first season under new manager Matt Taylor, after taking over from Paul Tisdale – who was with The Grecians for 12 years.

But despite sitting just two places below Bury, Taylor’s side will be looking to pick up three points for the first time in eight league games, where they most recently lost 1-0 at home to bottom club Macclesfield.

The Shakers will also be looking to carry on their impressive goalscoring form, after scoring 22 across their six matches in all competitions last month.

As well as Lowe’s award, midfielder Jay O’Shea won the Player of the Month award for League Two having scored four goals and providing two assists.

“I think confidence and the way the team is playing is what has allowed me to get so many opportunities in front of goal, and the way the team’s been performing has allowed me to chip in with a few myself,” he said.
