City loan lad in injury blow
PATRICK Roberts is facing a period out of action after suffering an injury while playing for Girona on Thursday.
On loan from City, Roberts had finally established himself into the first team following a slow start to life in Spain.
The 21-year-old winger started Girona’s last six games, and had provided an assist against La Liga surprise package Alaves in their Copa Del Rey tie.
However, in the 21st minute of Girona’s 2-1 win, Roberts was sent clear in a promising attack but immediately pulled up in agony and felt his hamstring as he looked to bear down on goal.
Spanish media report Roberts has suffered a ‘nasty-looking hamstring injury’ and could be out for the rest of 2018 at the very least.
It is a blow for Roberts, who recently discussed the benefits of young English players testing themselves in foreign leagues.
