Women fight for fair deal...

- Lisa Foster, Manchester

IF there was ever a time to stand up and be counted in the battle for justice for women, it is now.

Women born in the 1950s have had their state pension age increased by as much as six years with very little, if any, notice (18 months to three years before their planned retirement age).

This equates to a loss of income of around £35-40,000 – for people who have paid NI contributions for over 35 years. You can imagine how angry women feel.

The WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) campaign is a national one across the UK. Regional groups have been formed to raise awareness of this injustice and to support women affected through the complaints process.
