Major success for Minor lightshow

-

A CLASSIC car which has been illuminated with Christmas lights has helped to raise hundreds of pounds for medical charities.

Calvin Lee was inspired to convert his 1964 Morris Minor into a Christmas attraction after he saw the Coca-Cola truck adverts.

It took him two weeks and thousands of fairy lights, but he says the response has been worth it.

“People absolutely love it, they’ve been coming from all over the area. On most nights, at least 20 families come to get their picture taken,” Calvin, an award-winning wedding photographer, said.

“People are really impressed - some have been saying it’s better than the Coca Cola truck.”

The Morris Minor isn’t drivable while it’s lit up, but does have a Santa Claus behind the wheel with a sack of presents to deliver.

The donations have been split between the Health Tree Foundation and LUPUS UK after Calvin suffered with the immune disease two and a half years ago.

Calvin takes pictures of visitors to his car every night from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, and keeps the lights on until 9.30pm.

The car is located on Sanderling Way in Scunthorpe.
