Dad who had ears cut off in attack loses his fight for life
A FATHER-of-four who had his ears sliced off in a horrific machete attack has died.
Sajed Choudry, 42, a salesman, suffered multiple injuries in the assault last week.
He had a collapsed right lung and a bleed on the brain after the incident which took place outside his home in Blackburn, Lancashire.
He underwent a 14-hour operation to have his ears re-attached, using a skin graft from his legs.
But, his family said, his condition deteriorated on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking last week, daughter Mariya Choudry, 22, said the family were in shock.
She said: “I feel totally numb right now. I can’t describe how I feel. I have lived on that street for 15 years and have never seen anything like it.”
Mr Choudry’s 24-year-old son Ahsan also had half of his hand cut off and suffered cuts to his head in the assault and remains in hospital.
Mariya, a healthcare worker, stayed by her father’s bedside since he went into hospital after the attack last week.
She said her mother was ‘broken,’ adding: “I would not wish what has happened to my dad on anyone.”
Sadaqat Ali, 36, of Blackburn, Rafaqat Ali, 38, of Blackburn, Fazal Ilhai, 62, and a 13-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have all been charged with two counts of attempted murder. They are due to appear before Preston Crown Court on Monday.
