Focus won’t be on ‘special’ Pogba

- By RICHARD FAY

MAURICIO Pochettino insists his side cannot afford to pay Paul Pogba too much respect ahead of their Premier League fixture tomorrow.

Tottenham host United at Wembley Stadium as they look for their second big win of the week, having also beaten Chelsea in the first-leg of their League Cup semi-final.

The manner in which Spurs nullified the threat of Eden Hazard played a big part in their 1-0 win over Chelsea on Tuesday night, and Pochettino believes Pogba is in the same bracket of ‘special player’ as the Belgian international.

And while Pochettino recognises the immense threat of Pogba, he believes his side must concentrate on stopping the entire United team if they are to record another important win.

“When you play in this Premier League, every weekend, or every three days as we’ve been playing in the last few months, always it’s about the opponent have a few players that can make the difference,” Pochettino said.

“Like last Tuesday it was Hazard, and now Pogba. Pogba is a very talented player, a great player of course. But there are different players around.

“Of course they are special players. Manchester United have a great squad with great players with a lot of quality. Of course we are not going to be only focused on Pogba, we need to be focused on the whole team.”
