Stars come out to see Corrie’s Bev Rock it

-

CORONATION Street stars swapped the cobbles for the red carpet in support of co-star Beverley Callard’s performance in the Rocky Horror Show.

Beverley, who plays Weatherfield icon Liz McDonald, is the narrator in the rock ‘n’ roll stage performance, which opened at the Opera House on Tuesday.

Her soap star colleagues came along to watch the new production of Richard O’Brien’s hit musical.

The show’s customary fancy dress was nowhere to be seen, with celebs opting for a more smart-casual attire to keep out the cold.

Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Liz’s arch enemy Jenny Connor, was all smiles as she posed for photos with her hubby Nicholas Rhodes – a far cry from her scorned character, who recently ran Liz over in her car.

Other Corrie co-stars included Victoria Ekanoye, who plays recently-exited accountant Angie Appleton, and Daniel Brocklebank – vicar Billy Mayhew – in the show.

Bev herself also made an appearance after the show wearing a colourful silk pattern shirt, black leggings and knee-high boots.

She was seen arm in arm with hubby, Jon McEwan, who donned a checked purple jacket matched with a scarf and thick-rimmed glasses to match his wife’s.

Other stars included Eccles actress Jorgi Porter – who opted for Liz McDonald-inspired leopard print scarves and cosy looking beige coat – who was pictured with Hollyoaks actress Nicole Barber Lane.

Other famous faces from the Channel 4 soap included Ellis Hollins, Nathan Massey, with girlfriend Amy Forrest, and Jaz Franks.

Directed by Christopher Luscombe, the show features famous musical numbers which have made The Rocky Horror Show a huge hit for more than four decades, including Sweet Transvestite, Dammit Janet, and, of course, The Time Warp.
