Ammies face Dag and Red in FA Trophy second round

- NON-LEAGUE By ALEX HENDLEY

BOTH Salford City and Stockport County are in action in the FA Trophy Second Round today.

Graham Alexander’s Ammies host Dagenham and Redbridge, who lie 20 points behind them in the National League table.

Back in September, the sides drew a blank in a 0-0 draw at Victoria Road, while just before Christmas Salford fell to a 2-1 home defeat, despite taking the lead.

Stockport County welcome Truro City, who will be making a 650-mile round trip to try and reach the third round.

The Hatters have been in top form lately, unbeaten in their last six and rising to third in the league, while their opponents from Cornwall lie towards the bottom of the National League South.

In National League North, Altrincham know they must win to guarantee they remain in the play-off places when they travel to top of the table Chorley.

A win would also draw the league leaders in to the chasing pack, but it will not be easy with the Magpies having scored 15 in their last six fixtures.

FC United travel to Bradford Park Avenue knowing they need three points to stay in touch with the teams above them as they lie four points adrift in the bottom three.

Neil Reynolds’ side can take inspiration from the fact their opponents have lost both of their last two games.

Curzon Ashton have a chance to pull further away from the drop-zone, as they play away at bottom placed Nuneaton Borough.
